Things to be GRATEFUL for!

Aloha! And a very bright Bonjour! This girl is learning some new languages! ๐Ÿ˜!

Throughout quarantine, we have learnt a LOT, at least I have, as I had a lot of time on my hands to ponder. And I wanted to share certain things that many of us take lightly, but we should be grateful for! ๐Ÿค—! Hope you guys enjoy reading this post as much as I did writing it! ๐Ÿ’š

  • Water
Hโ‚‚O, to be more scientific ๐Ÿ˜‚!

I cannot possibly stress on the effect water has on human life! We all need it, or we could possibly die. Water keeps us hydrated and without it many of our metabolic activities will not take place (showing off that I am a science student here๐Ÿ˜‚). Water is also need for everything that we make, but can be our total enemy during baking, nevertheless, many food items require water, and would taste bland without it.

There are many people in this world, who live in continents like Africa, where they have to walk miles for water, we open our taps, and loads gush out, but they have to walk miles to access a drop! It is estimated that by 2050 water could run out, it is predicted that the next world war will be over water, and trust me, I will not be surprised! We even have people who steal water, google it up, there are water stealers! ๐Ÿ™„! So be grateful for having access to plenty of water and most importantly DONโ€™T WASTE IT! The plain truth guys! ๐Ÿ˜!

  • Sunlight

This thing can be such a pain at times, especially on my side of the globe, where it just warms up like crazy, but nevertheless, this is a very important part of our lives and our eco system as a whole. The energy for a food chain comes from the energy of the sun, and the enrgy we have in our bodies was once in the sun. The sun is also a natural source of light, it evaporates the water on the earth to give us rain and does soo much more. The sun is also looked upon as an object of light and happiness!

Without it, our lives would be unimaginable. What if the sun suddenly disappears some day? Have we ever thought of that? Imagine the effect on mankind! We should always be grateful for the presence of the sun!๐Ÿ’–

  • Food

I donโ€™t know about yโ€™all but I just cannot, CANNOT survive without food, and if you have been following me in like forever, then you will surely realize that I am such a foodie, click here to check out my post about dishes, here for desserts, and here for chocolate (sorry about the LOT of hereโ€™s)!

Food gives us energy, provides us with work for the five senses, and is needed by our body for nutritional value.๐Ÿ˜Ž There are certain foods such as fibers, which we poop out, but they are needed to help our large intestine function better. Without food me or you will not be here. There are many in this world who do not have access to food, and due to that diseases called kwashiorkor and marasmus exist. Malnutrition is a common illness (can you call it illness?) too. The saddest part is that the world provides enough food to feed all of mankind, but not everyone has access to the right food, plus poverty is a barrier between food and people. So, if you guys have three meals on your table, then do not ever moan about those bites in between, because there are some surviving with only one small meal a day. Let us be grateful people! ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

  • Shelter

Many of us moan about the houses we live in either they are outdated or just too cramped up, and we yearn looking at others houses, but what about those with no shelter? Big, or small, short of long, if you have a roof above your head then that is something to be grateful for. At least you are not homeless or on the streets. What matters is that, no matter where you live if you can change that place from a house to a home ๐Ÿก, then that should be sufficient. Let us start being satisfied with our places of living.

  • Parents

Many children moan about this blessing. Itโ€™s either that, โ€œmy mom is too pickyโ€, โ€œmy dad loads me with workโ€, you know what, there are people without any parents, and these are orphans, who have no one to provide for them. Your parent might be a pain at times, but they are the reason you are who are you today. Your mother carried you in her womb for months, and then went through the painful experience of giving birth to you, shouldnโ€™t you be grateful? At least you have someone to rely on! Someone you can lean on. And elderly parents do not belong in an elderly home, they belong with you, for everything they did to you, at least give them the pleasure, of spending their last days with you and dying on your lap. All your parents want is the best for you, people! ๐Ÿ’–! Wouldn’t you wan the best for your children? ๐Ÿค”

I just want to highlight one more thing, related to this topic and that is of fathers, often when people talk about their parents all the spotlight is on the mother, and she totally deserves it, but letโ€™s not forget those strong dadsโœจ, who are always there for you and your mother, and have dutifully done the best they could to all of you.

  • Your five senses

Oof! You owe these buds a LOT! They help you see, taste, smell, hear, and feel. Without these fellows I do not know where I would be!  I am going to keep this paragraph short, because, personally reflect on your five senses and be THANKFUL! I love you five senses! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’–

That was a pretty long post wasn’t it? But I enjoyed typing every sentence!๐Ÿ’•! Let’s start being MORE GRATEFUL, from today onwards! And the person who we owe the most is God, let’s thank Him for giving us all these, wonderful blessings! I have mostly mentioned the everyday things that we take for granted, the next post will probably be of other things, so stay ALERT! Love y’all!๐Ÿ’Ÿ

  2. Yesss!! This post really made me stop to think of what Iโ€™m grateful for! Especially with lockdown and such, Iโ€™m constantly thinking of the families with no food, work, and the children who canโ€™t go to school anymore. Yikes itโ€™s terrifying ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

      1. It’s good that you keep the underprivileged in your thoughts. But, please don’t feel guilty about living a good life. It’s better if we acknowledge our privileges and harness them to help the needy. โ˜บ๐Ÿ™
