BLOGGER UP SERIES with Anne The Vegan?!!

Halloo everybody! Today is one exciting post, that was delayed, I am soo sorry about that. But on the positive note, this post is now HAPPENING💟! Today I will the interviewing the EXTRAORDINARY Anne The Vegan. Her blog motivates me soo much to strive towards wellness! And some of those breakfast dishes she spoke of in her blog look soo healthy and at the same time DELICIOUS! 😋! Without further ado, let’s get to know more about Anne the Vegan!

Everything in bold is me commenting or asking questions! While everything that is unbold (is that even a word) is totally Anne The Vegan’s words!

1.    What was the purpose of starting Anne the Vegan?

I’ve been a physical therapist for over 21 years, mostly in geriatrics, and in that time, I’ve determined that as a society and in medicine, we really should focus more on preventive care and wellness, not just band-aid fixes on persistent problems. In practice, I’ve always treated my patients more holistically, discussing how they are coping with life changes and in their lifestyle choices, including how they fuel their bodies with food and exercise. I believe that if we take better care of our bodies, especially when we are younger, we can prevent chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and COPD.

I named my blog to turn a negative into a positive. In many circles, I’m “Anne. The vegan.” So if I’m known as this anyway, let’s turn it into something more positive instead of something you might hear with an eye roll.

Starting this blog has been a way to express ideas and share what I hope is practical information about taking care of your whole person. It was especially nice to have something to focus on during quarantine!(Blogging was honestly a good thing to get started during quarantine, with all the extra time we had!)

2.    “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” I found this quote on your blog, and would love to know the significance of this quote for you and the blog?

In my wellness journey, as in most, it’s become apparent that what we eat is the basis of our health. I’ve been some version of vegetarian my entire adult life, but I became vegan to manage inflammation contributing to asthma. I’m happy to say that I haven’t had bronchitis once since going vegan! So, yes, I love this quote from Hippocrates. By changing my diet, I have eliminated my need for daily medications to manage my asthma. But it’s not just me. There are countless stories about how shifting to a plant based diet has improved the health of many.

3.    How did you discover blogging?

Many years ago, I kept a blog to document thrift store finds and paper crafting.(OOOH this seems interesting!) I love the process of writing and photo documentation! This go-round, my passions have changed, so my new blog reflects that. They say you should write about what you know! (100%, share the knowledge you have, so that it can benefit others too!✨)

4.    How would you describe your blogging style?

My style is definitely different than how I write professionally. I try to keep it conversational, but I like to share information that I would find helpful. Content may vary from discussing spiritual wellness, sharing vegan recipes, how to shop for vegan food, and exercise tips.

5.    Which post of your is your favourite?

I think my favorite so far is the post I wrote about empathy. As politically polarized as our world is right now, I felt the need to express how important this human quality is, but taking out the politics. You can find the post here:

6.    How have you promoted your blog so far?

Most of my promotion has been via social media.

7.    What do you plan on doing to your blog in the future? Where do you see your blog in one year’s time?

That’s a great question! The only real goal is to have more readers, but I would also love for my blog to bring new opportunities to help others promote their businesses or blogs, too. I hope to learn more about WordPress, the platform I use to blog, to make it more user friendly to navigate as well.

8.    Do you have a role model? If so whom?

My best friend, Patty, is my best role model. She’s a rehab professional like me, and she is the one who inspired me to become a marathon runner. She’s like the big sister I never had. In our circle of friends, she is known as the voice of reason. Most of all, she has encouraged me to believe in myself.

9.    What makes you unique?

I don’t really know! The things that make me unique under most circumstances are kind of normal in my inner circle of friends, like having run multiple marathons or being vegan.

10. What do you love the most about yourself?

I love being able to help others. I felt a bit lost during quarantine, as I was furloughed from my job as a physical therapist, and I realized it’s because I wasn’t out there caring for others. Of course, taking care of my family is important, but I was meant to be a PT.
